Slide Mountain, Catskills, August 2004

In August 2004, a friend of mine and I decided to hike the Slide-Cornell-Wittenberg trail despite impending rain. One ranger on the trail even mentioned there was supposed to be 3 inches that night, but, somehow it never came.

We spend one night on one of the marked camp sites between Slide and Cornell.

Some parts of the trail up to Slide Mountain (on the east side) required us to use our hands to climb on. This rock face was one of those spots.

Not sure what this plant is, and I currently don't own the books to identify it.

A chipmunk, after watching us for a while, decided to get closer, probably looking for our lunch.
