Bedroom nightstands

With the limited floor space (and limited space in general) in the bedroom, I built these wall mounted nightstands so they would clear the platform bed drawers and provide a nice place for new lights.

I did a quick model in Google Sketchup to see how the proportions would look They are made out of baltic birch plywood and poplar and painted inside and out in semigloss white to match the trim. My first attempt at such a thing, it was kind of a get-the-feet-wet project before building a new builtin full size bathroom cabinet. They were also a great excuse to finally buy a brad nailer: the Hitachi NT50AE2 18-Gauge 5/8-Inch to 2-Inch Brad Nailer, can do 5/8" to 2" 18 gauge brads. It was very worth the money, made it easy to glue it together, then immediately nail it without clamping or waiting for the glue to dry.
